Favourite Places of the Bösehof Family
Little recommendations you won’t find on Google
Some places aren’t found because they’re widely advertised – but because someone knows them. Because it’s a spot you like to walk past, pause for a moment, or return to again and again.
That is exactly what we collected as a team: favourite places in and around Bad Bederkesa and the nearby surroundings – places we personally enjoy. Sometimes to breathe deeply, sometimes for a short walk, sometimes simply for a quiet break along the way.
Perhaps you will find a tip that adds a gentle, special moment to your stay.
Lennart Sommer: The Canal
“Perfect for walks with a dog.”
Sometimes all you need is a good path and fresh air. The canal is an easy favourite for a short walk in between – especially if you are travelling with a dog or simply want to clear your mind.
Carina Toscani-Tiedemann: Canal from Bad Bederkesa to the Lintig Lock – by SUP
Some favourite places are not only discovered on foot, but from the water. I love the canal from Bad Bederkesa to the lock in Lintig – especially by stand-up paddleboard.
The route is calm, relaxing and at the same time wonderfully varied. You feel close to nature, you hear the water, watch the banks drift by and get that feeling of truly “getting away” – without having to travel far
Being outdoors isn’t an activity here.
It’s simply what happens.
Andrea Roming: Bederkesa Castle
“You can easily include it in a cycling tour and take a little break.”
Bederkesa Castle is one of those places you can effortlessly add to an active day – whether as the destination of a bike ride or as a lovely stop along the way. A place where history and a small pause fit together perfectly.
Sabine Swinke: The “Bingo” conservation area at Karolinenhöhe
“For anyone interested in environmental protection projects, the Bingo-funded area on the former Karolinenhöhe site is well worth seeing. At first glance it may seem rather unspectacular – like an overgrown fenced-off area. But for example, a habitat for bats has been created there. It’s very close to the hotel and can easily be included in a short walk nearby.”
This tip is perfect for those who like to take a closer look. Because sometimes the quiet places hold something special: a piece of nature that is being protected with care – and a reminder of how much can be achieved through small, thoughtful projects.
Carina Toscani-Tiedemann: Lake Flögeln
“With the tower and the seating area, it’s a lovely place for a break and a snack.”
If you enjoy being outdoors and appreciate peaceful nature stops, Lake Flögeln is a wonderful place to pause for a while. The seating area and the tower make it a particularly pleasant spot – ideal for a small snack or simply a moment to catch your breath with a view of the greenery.
Sabine Swinke: Schließke Bookshop
“I’m really happy we still have a bookshop like this right here in town. I love browsing for books – or simply discovering beautiful things like cards, calendars or stationery.”
If you enjoy slowly browsing shelves while on holiday, you will feel at home here. Schließke Bookshop is a place to find inspiration – sometimes with a specific title in mind, sometimes simply for a quiet moment among lovely little discoveries and new stories.
More favourite places to come
This list is meant to grow – and that is exactly what makes it so special. Because every favourite place is different. And often it is the personal recommendations that turn a stay into a true feel-good moment.
Perhaps you will discover your very own favourite place – one that stays with you.
Warm regards,
Carina, Sabine, Lennart & Andrea
